Biography
Shay-Ann Heiser Singh represents taxpayers in civil and criminal tax controversies before the IRS and in litigation. She was previously a partner in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis, where she handled complex commercial cases at the trial and appellate levels in state and federal court. Those matters included corporate restructurings, employment discrimination matters, and government contract disputes.
Ms. Heiser Singh also previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Philip P. Simon in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. There, she was involved in a broad range of civil and criminal litigation, including cases involving tax evasion, money laundering, FICA tax liability, federal tax liens, and the filing of fraudulent tax returns.
Ms. Heiser Singh represented hundreds of criminal defendants as a PILI fellow in Office of the Cook County Public Defender and has represented numerous clients pro bono in bankruptcy and immigration matters. She was awarded the pro bono award for excellence every year while at her prior firm.
